In Lightlark there are six realms and every 100 years an island appears called Lightlark and the rulers of these six realms have to go to the island and fight. Each realm is cursed and the rulers are fighting to break the curses. We mostly follow around Isla whos realm is curse that if they fall in love with someone they either have to kill them or they die. Azul’s realm is unable to fly, Oro’s realm cannot go out in the daylight, Grimm’s realm cannot go out when it’s night, Celeste’s realm will only live until they are 25, and Cleo’s realm gets attacked by the sea every full moon. For the curses to be broken one of the rulers must die. This fight goes on for 100 days. Each of the rulers is trying to keep their secrets from being revealed. Isla fights to win the challenge but struggles because she falls in love.

I have not read the second or third book in the series but I am excited to get to read them soon. During Lightlark Isla falls in love with two of the rulers and I have a feeling that plays a major role in the second book. Alex Aster is an amazing author with a unique writing style. I have met Alex Aster twice and have nothing but great experiences. She once told about how as a kid she always wanted to change her name to Claire.
